Shayne Pattynama Joins Buriram United After Challenging Stint in Belgium
Indonesian national team defender Shayne Pattynama has officially joined Buriram United, a top club in Thailand. The transfer was confirmed through the club’s social media channels, marking a new chapter in the 26-year-old's career. Pattynama joins Buriram as part of the club’s ASEAN player quota following the end of his contract with Belgian side KAS Eupen.

Before this move, Pattynama had signed a deal with KAS Eupen that was supposed to run until mid-2026. However, his time in Belgium did not go as planned. After transferring from Norwegian club Viking FK, he struggled to find consistent form and playing time, managing only 23 appearances across all competitions during his stint with the club.

Compounding his challenges, KAS Eupen was relegated to the second tier of Belgian football after a disappointing 2024-25 season. Even in the lower division, Pattynama saw limited action, featuring in only 16 matches in the Challenger Pro League. This lack of playing time likely contributed to his decision to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Now with Buriram United, Pattynama is looking to revive his career and secure more consistent minutes on the pitch. The Thai club also announced the signing of Ilhan Fandi, another player of Indonesian descent, signaling a broader effort to tap into the Southeast Asian talent pool. The move offers Pattynama a chance to reestablish himself at the club level while continuing his contributions to the Indonesian national team.
