Liga 1 Season Set to Kick Off on August 8, 2025, Running Through May 2026
PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) has officially confirmed that the 2025–26 Liga 1 season will begin on August 8, 2025. This schedule maintains consistency with previous seasons, which typically start in early August and conclude around May the following year. The timeline reflects the league’s intention to align with international football calendars while ensuring a structured and predictable competition format.
There had been speculation that the league's start might be delayed to early August, but LIB clarified that the kickoff date remains within the planned window. The organization emphasized that the calendar was carefully designed to avoid delays and to provide ample preparation time for clubs. The upcoming season is expected to span approximately nine months, accommodating both domestic fixtures and international breaks.
In conjunction with the season launch, LIB will also host its annual General Shareholders Meeting (RUPS) on the same day. This meeting will present a comprehensive review of the previous season, including financial reports and performance assessments. Additionally, it will outline strategic and operational plans for the upcoming season, focusing on improving league operations and financial sustainability.
With the schedule now confirmed, participating clubs can begin finalizing preparations for the new campaign. The extended notice allows teams to manage logistics, squad planning, and training schedules more efficiently. The early announcement is part of LIB’s broader efforts to professionalize Indonesian football and enhance the competitive level of Liga 1.
