Persib Continues Post-Championship Overhaul by Releasing Gustavo Franca and Ryan Kurnia

Following their triumphant Liga 1 2024-25 campaign, Persib Bandung has continued reshaping its squad by parting ways with two more key players: Gustavo Franca and Ryan Kurnia. These departures were confirmed through the club’s official social media, marking a significant shift as the team prepares for the upcoming season. Franca becomes the seventh foreign player to exit, joining a growing list of outgoing names such as Tyronne del Pino, Kevin Ray Mendoza, and Ciro Alves.
Gustavo Franca had been a vital presence in the heart of Persib’s defense. Brought in to replace Alberto Rodriguez, the Brazilian defender quickly proved his worth by making 30 appearances and contributing six goals throughout the season. His dual role as a defensive anchor and unexpected goal scorer played a crucial part in Persib’s title-winning run, establishing him as one of the team's standout performers.
Ryan Kurnia, who joined the club in 2023, also ends his journey with Persib. As a winger, he became a reliable option for coaches Luis Milla and Bojan Hodak, especially during critical moments when his speed was needed. Over his tenure, he tallied four goals and two assists, making significant contributions from the flanks. His departure adds to the growing list of players moving on after the championship season.
In total, Persib has released eleven players so far, signaling a major transition despite no new signings being announced. Only two foreign players, David da Silva and Mailson Lima, remain with the team, and both are approaching the end of their contracts on June 30, 2025. Their future with the club remains uncertain, suggesting that Persib may soon undergo even more changes ahead of the next season.
