Twin Talents in the Spotlight: Comparing the Market Value of Yakob and Yance Sayuri Amid Racial Abuse Controversy
Yakob and Yance Sayuri, twin footballers for Malut United, recently became the target of racial abuse on social media following their match against Persib Bandung. The incident escalated due to offensive remarks aimed not only at them but also their families, prompting the brothers to take legal action. Their response included sending formal warnings to six social media accounts, with public support from the Indonesian Football Players Association and condemnation from national figures like PSSI head Erick Thohir, who stressed zero tolerance for racism in sports.

Outside of this troubling episode, the twins continue to play crucial roles in Malut United's impressive season, which has seen the team rise into the league’s top three. While both players significantly contribute on the pitch, Yakob’s more prominent performances at the international level have elevated his public profile. His record includes 25 club appearances, 10 goals, and six assists this season, compared to Yance’s 29 appearances, four goals, and five assists.

In terms of market value, Yakob is currently estimated at around Rp5.21 billion, slightly higher than Yance’s Rp4.78 billion. This difference largely stems from Yakob’s more extensive experience with the Indonesian national team, where he has played 24 times and scored three goals. Meanwhile, Yance has had limited national exposure, with only a single senior team appearance. Despite this, both remain essential assets for their club and symbols of resilience in Indonesian football.
