Why PSSI Chose Bali for Indonesia’s National Team Training Camp Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers
PSSI has selected Bali as the training camp location for Indonesia’s national football team ahead of their critical World Cup 2026 qualifiers against China and Japan. The decision was based on Bali’s comprehensive facilities and conducive environment, which are seen as ideal for conditioning and preparation. The training camp will begin on May 28, 2025, ahead of the matches scheduled for June 5 in Jakarta against China and June 10 in Japan.

This preparation is considered vital as the national team, under the guidance of head coach Patrick Kluivert, aims to secure much-needed points to keep their qualification hopes alive. Many players will be coming off their club season breaks, making a focused and uninterrupted camp crucial for team cohesion and physical readiness. The choice of Bali is intended to give the squad ample time and space to regroup and sharpen their strategies.

Past experiences, such as the team’s rushed preparations against Australia, have shown the importance of having a well-structured camp. The players, including midfielder Thom Haye, have expressed support for the longer preparation period. With Indonesia currently sitting fourth in their group with nine points, every aspect of their preparation could prove decisive in their journey toward qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
