Persib Bandung Signs Curacao Striker

The mystery surrounding Persib Bandung's new signing for the 2024-25 mid-season transfer window has been resolved. The club officially announced the arrival of Curacao international striker Gervane Kastaneer, who was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands.



Kastaneer, born in 1996 and standing at 1.89 meters, has been signed to a 1.5-year contract with the Bandung-based club. His addition is expected to enhance the attacking options for the team, known as the Pangeran Biru.

According to Persib’s Sporting Director, Adhitia Putra Herawan, the signing was a direct recommendation from head coach Bojan Hodak, who values Kastaneer’s versatility in the forward positions. This flexibility is seen as a key asset to further sharpen the team's attacking play.

While the exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, rumors suggest that the Curacao striker was acquired for a market value of around IDR 3.48 billion. Before joining Persib, Kastaneer spent the 2023-24 season playing for Spanish Segunda Division club Castellon. He has also had stints with clubs in the Netherlands, Germany, and England, including ADO Den Haag, NAC Breda, Kaiserslautern, and Coventry.

Kastaneer’s arrival has led to the departure of foreign player Mailson Lima from Persib's squad. The club has not yet announced where the Cape Verdean player will continue his career for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
