PSM Makassar’s Path to the Semifinals of the ASEAN Club Championship

PSM Makassar is the only Indonesian club still fighting in the group stage of the 2024-25 ASEAN Club Championship. Under the guidance of coach Bernardo Tavares, the team is currently leading the Group A standings.



Group A consists of PSM Makassar, Thanh Hoa, Pathum United, Terengganu, Svay Rieng, and Shan United. After a strong start, PSM has earned seven points, placing them at the top of the table.
The team kicked off the group stage with a goalless draw against Pathum United. They followed that up with a dramatic 4-3 victory over Shan United in their second match. In their third game, they secured a 1-0 win against Svay Rieng.

PSM Makassar still has two crucial matches remaining: one against Terengganu on January 22, 2025, and another against Thanh Hoa on February 5, 2025.

For PSM to advance to the semifinals of the ASEAN Club Championship 2024-25, they must finish in either 1st or 2nd place in their group. The top two teams from each group automatically qualify for the semifinals, while teams finishing in 3rd through 6th place will be eliminated from the tournament.
