Ernando Ari Rumored to Be a Target for Persija

With the mid-season transfer window for Liga 1 open until January 15, 2025, rumors about player arrivals and departures are continuing to swirl. Every team is looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season.

Ernando Ari Rumored to Be a Target for Persija

One of the latest rumors is that Persija Jakarta has set its sights on Ernando Ari, the starting goalkeeper for Persebaya Surabaya. If the deal goes through, it could be one of the most significant transfers of the mid-season window.

Ernando, a key player for the Indonesian national team, has been a mainstay in the squad under coach Shin Tae-yong. Similarly, at Persebaya, he has established himself as an irreplaceable figure.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who has a market value of IDR 4.78 billion, began his career at PPLP Jateng before joining Persebaya's U-20 team in 2018. His development at Persebaya has been remarkable, eventually earning a spot in the Garuda Select in 2019.

He then made the jump to the senior team in 2020, where he quickly became the trusted man between the posts. This season, Ernando has played 10 matches and conceded just eight goals.
If the transfer to Persija happens, Ernando could be seen as the long-term successor to Persija’s current captain and goalkeeper, Andritany Ardhiyasa. At 33, Andritany might pass the baton to Ernando, given his solid performances. Moreover, Ernando is expected to have a smooth transition, especially with some former Persebaya players already at Persija, such as Rizky Ridho and Hamsamu Yama Pranata.
