Why Patrick Kluivert Chose Two Dutch Assistants for Indonesia’s National Team?
Patrick Kluivert will not be working alone during his tenure as the head coach of Indonesia’s national football team. He has appointed Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat as his assistant coaches to help guide the Garuda squad.

Both Alex and Denny bring substantial coaching experience to the team. Alex, a former coach of Almere City, led the Dutch club to promotion to the Eredivisie in the 2022-2024 season. Denny, on the other hand, has experience as an assistant coach for Hungarian side Ferencvaros TC.
In an interview with De Telegraaf, Kluivert explained his strong relationship with Alex Pastoor, citing their shared history of attending coaching courses together. He believes Alex’s experience, especially with Almere City, makes him an ideal fit for the national team. Kluivert also emphasized their personal connection, saying they’ve always had a good working relationship and shares a similar vision for the team.
As for Denny Landzaat, Kluivert praised him for his loyalty and hard work. Denny, who played alongside Kluivert in Ajax's youth academy, has also worked under well-known coaches like John van den Brom and Pascal Jansen. Kluivert pointed out that Denny’s experience with top-tier coaches and his familiarity with Indonesian culture and language will be an asset for the team.
Kluivert expressed confidence in the coaching staff’s ability to work well together. Along with Alex and Denny, two Indonesian assistants will also join the coaching team, all working with a shared goal of guiding Indonesia to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Kluivert also highlighted the strong past collaboration between Alex and Denny, particularly their time working together at AZ, and believes their combined experience will create a solid foundation for the team’s success.
