Gabbia: Renewing with Milan is a Dream Come True and a Continuation of a Journey That Began Years Ago

AC Milan has officially announced the contract extension of Matteo Gabbia until June 2029. Following the announcement, the Milan academy graduate gave an interview to Milan TV.
His feelings after signing the contract extension

"I am obviously very happy. For me personally, this is a wonderful moment. I’m thrilled because this is a dream come true and a continuation of a story that began many years ago. So, I’m truly, truly happy."

The current phase of his career

"In my personal career, I’ve reached a point where I feel important at the team level. I feel very welcomed in all the environments at Milanello and Casa Milan. So, I’m very happy, and I hope this is the beginning of something even better in the coming years."

What it feels like to play for Milan as a local player

"For me, living peacefully with my family and with the person who will soon be my wife—in short, being with everyone around me—is very important. I’m happy to share all these moments with them because they always make me feel at home, through good times and bad. Therefore, I feel incredibly fortunate to play for the team of my city. Even when I step onto the pitch, I still feel like I’m at home. It’s something magical and wonderful, and I couldn’t be happier."

His responsibilities as a player

"I try to strengthen the positive aspects within me, both as a person and as an athlete. I aim to pass on what I can to my teammates. To be honest, I don’t have much to add in this regard because I must say that all my teammates are highly professional athletes. From this perspective, I’m very happy here. I know I need to continue to enhance these two aspects of myself to always aim for even greater goals."

"I think I’ve summarized it well in three words: history, passion, responsibility. These words truly represent Milan. At this moment, I hope that through this long-term contract and the time that continues to bind me to this incredible club, I can become even more integrated into its history. I aim to work hard with my teammates to achieve great results and win trophies, which would surely secure our place in the annals of this glorious club."
