Jay Idzes Nears Torino Move, Poised to Become Indonesia’s Most Expensive Footballer

Jay Idzes is reportedly on the verge of joining Italian Serie A club Torino in a major transfer move. According to reports from Italian journalist Marco Conterio, the defender is set to be acquired from Venezia for a transfer fee estimated between €8 to €9 million, which roughly converts to IDR 151 to 170 billion. This development comes after Torino completes the transfer of another player, Saul Coco, to Spartak Moscow. The move, if finalized, signals Torino’s strong interest in strengthening their defensive line with the addition of the Indonesian national team captain.
Interest in Jay Idzes is not new. Back in the 2024 summer transfer window, Torino had already been linked with the player shortly after hiring Paolo Vanoli, who previously coached at Venezia. However, Venezia refused to let Idzes go at the time, aiming to retain key players for their Serie A campaign. Following their relegation to Serie B for the 2025-26 season, Venezia is now more open to selling him, though the high transfer fee shows they still value him greatly. Interestingly, Paolo Vanoli is no longer with Torino, having been replaced by Marc Baroni in the summer of 2025.
If this transfer goes through, Jay Idzes will make history as the most expensive Indonesian footballer of all time. His projected transfer fee far exceeds those of his fellow national team members. Despite playing in Europe, no other Indonesian player has reached this level of valuation, making his potential move a milestone for Indonesian football. It also reflects the rising prominence and marketability of players from Southeast Asia in top European leagues.
Currently, Jay Idzes also holds the highest market value among Indonesian national players, listed at €7.5 million according to Transfermarkt. He edges out Mees Hilgers, who stands at €6.5 million. This growing recognition in Europe suggests a promising future for Idzes, whose career is set to ascend further should the transfer to Torino be finalized. His next steps will be closely followed as fans and analysts anticipate his performance in one of Europe’s top leagues.
