Son Heung-min Bids Farewell to Tottenham After 10 Years, Set for LAFC Move

Son Heung-min has officially closed a memorable chapter of his career at Tottenham Hotspur, marking his farewell during a preseason friendly against Newcastle United in Seoul. The emotional moment unfolded as he walked off the pitch in the 65th minute, receiving a standing ovation from his home crowd. This friendly match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, served as his final appearance for the club he joined in 2015.
During his decade-long tenure, Son made 454 official appearances and scored 173 goals, becoming the fifth-highest scorer in Tottenham’s history. He earned accolades such as the Premier League Golden Boot and the FIFA Puskás Award, and most recently played a key role in ending Tottenham's 17-year trophy drought by helping them win the UEFA Europa League in the 2024/25 season. His consistent performances and leadership earned him legendary status at the club.
Son is now preparing for the next chapter of his career in the United States, with a move to Major League Soccer side LAFC. According to reports, including confirmations from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has already been reached between all parties. Tottenham is set to receive a transfer fee exceeding €15 million for the South Korean star, who will not return to England with the rest of the squad as he finalizes the necessary paperwork.
The farewell was marked by heartfelt tributes, including warm embraces from teammates and opponents, and a celebratory toss in the air by his Spurs colleagues. Son's departure not only ends a significant era for Tottenham but also begins a new journey in MLS, where he is expected to bring experience, star power, and leadership to LAFC.
