Manchester United Withdraws from Emiliano Martinez Pursuit, Shifts Focus to Striker Signing

Manchester United has reportedly halted their efforts to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Although the Argentine keeper was linked to the club as a potential first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming season, negotiations with Villa have stalled due to disagreements over the transfer fee.
The Red Devils initially proposed a season-long loan with an option to buy, but Aston Villa insisted on a permanent transfer with a price tag of £40 million. Finding the valuation too steep, Manchester United decided to step back and end their pursuit of Martinez for now.
As a result, United plans to rely on their current goalkeeper Andre Onana as the primary choice, supported by Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton as backups. The club will only consider bringing in a new goalkeeper if Onana or Bayindir leaves during the summer transfer window.
With the goalkeeping situation stabilized for the moment, Manchester United’s immediate priority has shifted to strengthening their attack. The club is actively pursuing RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, anticipating a significant investment to secure the young striker’s services.
