Mbappe to Wear Iconic No. 10 Jersey at Real Madrid Following Modric's Departure
Kylian Mbappe is set to wear the number 10 jersey for Real Madrid in the upcoming season, taking over the iconic number previously worn by Luka Modric. This change comes after Modric’s transfer to AC Milan, ending his 13-year tenure at the Spanish club. The number holds special significance for Mbappe, as he has long worn it for the French national team.
Real Madrid's internal sources confirmed that Mbappe had been eyeing the number 10 shirt from the start and was willing to wait until it became available. During his debut season, he wore number 9 and delivered an outstanding personal performance, scoring 31 goals in LaLiga and surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo's first-season scoring record in league play.
Despite his strong individual stats, Mbappe’s season was met with mixed reactions due to Real Madrid’s lack of major trophies. The team finished second in LaLiga behind Barcelona, exited the Champions League in the quarterfinals against Arsenal, and came up short in both the Copa del Rey and Spanish Supercopa finals, despite goals from Mbappe in each.

Mbappe missed the group stage due to a severe bout of gastroenteritis but returned for the knockout rounds. However, the team suffered a heavy 0-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals, capping off a season that, while individually impressive for Mbappe, ended without significant team silverware.
