Barcelona to Face Como 1907 in the 60th Joan Gamper Trophy at Johan Cruyff Stadium
Barcelona is set to face Italian Serie A club Como 1907 in the 60th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy, scheduled for August 10 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. This match will officially introduce Barcelona’s squad under coach Hansi Flick ahead of the 2025-26 LaLiga season. Como 1907 is coached by former Barcelona player Cesc Fàbregas and features ex-captain Sergi Roberto, adding an emotional layer to the encounter given their strong ties to the Catalan club.

Owned by an Indonesian businessman, Como 1907 has become the ninth Italian club to participate in the history of the Joan Gamper Trophy, joining prominent teams like Sampdoria, AC Milan, and Juventus. The club impressed in the 2024-25 season by finishing tenth in Serie A after being promoted from Serie B, marking their return to Italy’s top flight after a 21-year absence. The presence of Fabregas as coach and Roberto as a player further elevates the significance of this friendly clash.

Originally planned to take place at the Spotify Camp Nou, the game was moved to the Johan Cruyff Stadium due to logistical issues, the same venue used during the 2021 edition when Barcelona hosted Juventus. Club president Joan Laporta emphasized the importance of this match as a crucial test to evaluate both the stadium’s readiness and the team’s preparation under the new coach.

This game will conclude Barcelona’s preseason tour in Asia, which included matches against Vissel Kobe in Japan and FC Seoul and Daegu FC in South Korea. The Joan Gamper Trophy will serve as an important milestone to assess the squad’s form and tactical approach before the competitive season begins.
