AC Milan Sends Midfielder Tommaso Pobega Back to Bologna on Loan with Option to Buy
AC Milan has loaned midfielder Tommaso Pobega to Bologna FC once again, with the deal extending until June 30, 2026, and including an option for Bologna to make the move permanent. This loan marks Pobega’s return to the club after a successful spell during the 2024/25 season, where he impressed by contributing goals and assists and played a key role in Bologna’s Coppa Italia triumph. Despite the earlier agreed purchase option, Bologna initially decided not to exercise it.

Pobega, a product of AC Milan’s youth system, had an impactful season with Bologna last year, scoring four goals and providing three assists across 30 matches in all competitions. The club’s coach, Vincenzo Italiano—who previously worked with Pobega at Spezia—has requested the midfielder’s return to strengthen Bologna’s midfield ahead of their Serie A and Champions League campaigns. Pobega has already completed his medical checks and is set to join Bologna’s training camp.

With a contract running at AC Milan until 2027, Pobega does not figure prominently in the plans of Milan’s head coach Massimiliano Allegri, especially after the arrivals of Luka Modric and Samuele Ricci, which have increased competition for midfield spots. The loan move to Bologna offers Pobega more regular playing time and an opportunity to continue his development under a coach known for nurturing young talent.

AC Milan officially expressed gratitude towards Pobega for his professionalism and dedication during his time with the club since joining their youth ranks in 2013. This loan agreement allows Pobega to continue growing while giving Milan flexibility in managing their squad for the season ahead.
