Borneo FC Signs Colombian Midfielder Juan Felipe Villa as First New Recruit for Liga 1 2025-26

Borneo FC has officially announced their first new signing for the upcoming Liga 1 2025-26 season, welcoming Colombian midfielder Juan Felipe Villa to their squad. At 25 years old, Villa brings international experience from his previous stints in Bahrain, Portugal, and Greece, and is expected to play a key role in creating attacking opportunities for the team.
Villa’s arrival is seen as a strategic move to fill the gap left by Berguinho, who recently departed the club. With his creativity and versatility in midfield, Borneo hopes he will add new dynamics to their offensive play and become a vital contributor throughout the season.
The club has retained only three foreign players from last season and is actively reshaping their roster under the guidance of coach Fabio Lefundes. Additionally, Borneo has loaned out local player Gavin Kwan Adsit to Persik Kediri as part of their squad management efforts.
After finishing fifth in Liga 1 last season with 56 points from 34 matches, Borneo FC aims to build a competitive team ready to challenge at the top again. With the new season starting in early August 2025, the team has just about a month to prepare for the challenges ahead in Indonesia’s top-flight football.
