Indonesia to Face China Without Two Key Players in 2026 World Cup Qualifier

Indonesia’s national football team will face China in the upcoming 2026 AFC World Cup Qualifier without two of its players, Marselino Ferdinan and Maarten Paes. Both have been ruled out of the match due to an accumulation of yellow cards received during the previous game against Bahrain. Although unavailable for the China fixture, the two remain part of the 27-man squad as they are expected to return for the final group match against Japan.
The match against China is scheduled for June 5, 2025, at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, giving coach Patrick Kluivert ample time to monitor club performances before finalizing his lineup. While the full list of selected players has yet to be released, it is anticipated that Kluivert will call up around 27 players for the last two qualifying games. The final decision on squad selection will be made roughly a week before kickoff.
Despite the absence of Marselino and Paes, the team still has solid alternatives. Emil Audero is a likely candidate to take over in goal, possibly making his debut for the national team. For the midfield, options like Egy Maulana Vikri could step in, provided he stays injury-free. Kluivert is expected to adapt easily given the available depth in the squad.
