PT LIB Reveals Causes Behind Liga 1 Clubs' Salary Payment Delays
PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) has acknowledged the financial difficulties faced by Liga 1 clubs, citing two main reasons for the salary payment delays affecting players. The issue came to light after several players, including those from PSIS Semarang and former Semen Padang players, spoke out. Additionally, FIFA has imposed sanctions on clubs like PSM Makassar, Persik Kediri, and PSIS, banning them from engaging in transfer activities due to financial disputes.

According to PT LIB’s CEO, Ferry Paulus, the salary cap regulations, which set a financial limit of IDR 50 billion per season for clubs, have not been violated so far. However, challenges have arisen from a slowdown in sponsorship deals and insufficient ticket sales, which have strained the cash flow of these clubs. The financial control measures in place are designed to prevent overspending, but they have not been enough to fully address the clubs' ongoing financial struggles.

To tackle these issues, PT LIB is working on new regulations for the upcoming season. One of the key changes will involve improving the clubs' financial contributions to the league and ensuring their expenditures are in line with their revenues. This initiative aims to prevent salary delays from recurring and to create a more sustainable financial environment for Liga 1 clubs moving forward.
