Persib Bandung Faces Major Squad Overhaul as Nine Contracts Near Expiry

Persib Bandung is set to undergo significant roster changes as nine players approach the end of their contracts in 2025, with several key foreign players included in the list. The looming departures could prompt the club to make major adjustments ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Following their Liga 1 title victory in 2023-24, Persib has maintained strong form, leading the league standings in the 2024-2025 season. Their success has been driven by key players, but as the season nears its conclusion, the team faces the challenge of losing multiple squad members whose contracts are set to expire. This situation presents Persib with the task of both releasing and recruiting quality players for the upcoming campaign.
Among the players whose contracts will soon end is first-choice goalkeeper Kevin Ray Mendoza, whose deal runs until May 31, 2025. The Filipino shot-stopper joined from Kuala Lumpur City FC in November 2023 and quickly became a crucial part of the team. Dutch defender Nick Kuipers, a mainstay since 2019, is also set to see his contract expire on the same date. The 32-year-old has contributed significantly to Persib’s recent successes, including their Liga 1 title win.
Other players in a similar situation include Edo Febriansyah, whose contract ends on May 31, 2025, and Rachmat Irianto, whose deal expires earlier on March 31, 2025. The 25-year-old defensive midfielder joined from Persebaya in 2022. Meanwhile, Ahmad Agung is already set for a move to Persik Kediri after his contract runs out on June 30, 2025.
Winger Mailson Lima has struggled with inconsistent performances this season and is expected to depart after his contract expires in June 2025, with several Liga 1 clubs reportedly interested in him. Young talent Beckham Putra also faces an uncertain future, with his contract ending on June 30, 2025, and no updates on an extension or potential transfer.
Ryan Kurnia, who joined from Persikabo in 2023, will be out of contract by May 31, 2025. Meanwhile, Brazilian forward Ciro Alves, another former Persikabo player, will see his contract end even sooner, on April 30, 2025, making him a potential departure before the next season begins.
