Indonesia’s World Cup Dream: Four Crucial Matches Ahead, Thom Haye Sets Bold Target

Indonesia's national team is gearing up for the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian zone, with only four matches remaining to secure a spot in the tournament.

This month, Indonesia is set to face Australia and Bahrain, followed by challenging encounters against Japan and China in June. The Garuda squad will take on Australia at Allianz Stadium, Sydney, on March 20, 2025, before returning home to host Bahrain at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium five days later.

Midfielder Thom Haye has set an ambitious goal, aiming for a perfect six-point haul from these two upcoming fixtures. His focus is solely on winning, believing that securing victories early will strengthen Indonesia’s position in the qualification race.

Haye emphasized that in football, anything can happen, and the key is to capitalize on every opportunity to stay ahead. With only four games left to determine direct qualification to the 2026 World Cup, Indonesia’s squad arrives in this phase stronger than ever.

He acknowledged that the team must adapt to the flow of each match, balancing between pushing for wins and reading the game’s dynamics. However, his mindset remains clear—Indonesia is entering every match with one objective: victory.

As the qualifiers reach a decisive stage, all eyes are on whether Indonesia can turn ambition into reality and take a significant step toward making history on the world’s biggest football stage.
