Ong Kim Swee Reveals Key Factor Behind Persis Solo's Comeback Win Against PSS Sleman

Persis Solo's head coach, Ong Kim Swee, has shared the key factors that led to his team's dramatic victory over PSS Sleman at Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang on Tuesday night, March 11, 2025. After falling behind 1-0 due to Nicolao Dumitru’s goal in the 11th minute, Persis Solo showed resilience in the second half. Despite struggling with a defensive error that led to PSS Sleman’s early goal and missing a penalty opportunity in the first half, the team fought back after the break.
Ong Kim Swee highlighted the team’s positive attitude in the second half and the impact of strategic player substitutions. The first goal in the comeback came from John Cley in the 58th minute, leveling the score at 1-1. LautaroBelleggia then put Persis Solo ahead with a goal in the 67th minute, making it 2-1.
Moussa Sidibe, who had previously missed a penalty, redeemed himself with two brilliant goals in the 80th and 90+6' minutes, securing a 4-1 victory for Persis Solo. The coach also pointed out that the pressure on PSS Sleman, who were desperately seeking a goal after falling behind, played into Persis Solo’s hands, allowing them to score on counter-attacks.
With this win, Persis Solo moved up to 14th place in the standings with 26 points, while PSS Sleman remained in the relegation zone in 17th place with 22 points. The victory was an important step for Persis Solo to distance themselves from the bottom of the table, and Ong Kim Swee’s tactical adjustments in the second half were crucial to securing the comeback victory.
