Why Teco Reacted After Bali United's Defeat Against PSBS Biak in Liga 1
Bali United, coached by Stefano Cugurra (Teco), suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to PSBS Biak in Liga 1 2024-25, which left the team unable to close the gap with Persija Jakarta in the standings. The match took place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Kapten I WayanDipta Stadium, with kick-off at 21:30 WITA.
Despite Bali United's efforts, they were outplayed by PSBS Biak, who scored two quick goals: the first by Williams Jose Lugo in the 4th minute and the second by Abel Arganaraz in the 29th minute. This defeat has left Bali United in 7th place with 40 points, unable to reduce the gap to Persija Jakarta, who currently have 43 points. On the other hand, PSBS Biak, who secured a strong victory, moved up to 10th place with 37 points.
In his post-match statement, Coach Teco explained that the early goal conceded in the first half due to a fast counter-attack made it difficult for his team to recover. He also mentioned the team’s limited preparation time and the resulting physical condition, which contributed to losing possession against the opposition. Despite the setback, Teco accepted the outcome of the match.
After this loss, the Liga 1 competition will take a break for the FIFA Matchday, with Bali United's next match scheduled for April 10, 2025, where they will face Dewa United.
