Persib Coach Reveals Contract Issues with Players Seeking High Salaries

Persib Coach Reveals Contract Issues with Players Seeking High Salaries

Persib Bandung is currently facing a dilemma as several players' contracts are set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 Liga 1 season, with some even expiring before the season concludes. This situation arose due to recent changes in the start and end dates of the Liga 1 competition, which shifted from March to May in the past few years.

In response, Persib's head coach, Bojan Hodak, emphasized that the team's focus remains on achieving success and securing the championship first. He reassured that contract expirations wouldn't affect the players' commitment to winning, stating that the ultimate goal is to win the league.

However, Hodak acknowledged that some players have been requesting higher salaries during contract negotiations. This is partly because other clubs have shown interest in signing Persib players, which has driven up their market value due to the team's strong performance in recent seasons.

The coach expressed concern that this could pose a challenge for the club, as it directly impacts the budget allocated by management. He pointed out that a similar issue occurred last season, when key players who contributed to Persib's championship title decided not to renew their contracts and moved to other clubs offering higher salaries. Hodak worries that this situation may repeat itself, affecting the team’s ability to retain its top players.
