Bhayangkara FC Secures Promotion to Liga 1 for Next Season

Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia has secured one of the promotion spots to Liga 1 for next season. A draw against Persijap was enough to lift the police-owned team to the top tier.

In the fifth match of Group Y’s eight-team stage in Liga 2, Bhayangkara played out a goalless draw with Persijap at Gelora Bumi Kartini on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. This result gave Bhayangkara a total of nine points from five matches.

With only one match left to play, Bhayangkara’s lead is uncatchable, as Persijap, with six points, cannot surpass them. Even if Bhayangkara loses its final match and Persijap wins, Bhayangkara will remain in first place due to their superior head-to-head result, having won 3-0 in their earlier meeting. This marks a swift return to Liga 1 for Bhayangkara, who were relegated last season after finishing 17th with just 26 points.

Meanwhile, Persijap's hopes of promotion remain alive, but they must beat Persela in their final match. Finishing second will earn them a spot in the playoff against the runner-up of Group X, with the winner claiming the last promotion slot to Liga 1.

Other teams still vying for the playoff spot include PSKC Cimahi with five points and Persela with four. PSKC will face Bhayangkara in the final round on February 18, 2025.
