Mees Hilgers Could Break FC Twente's Transfer Record in Summer 2025

Mees Hilgers is being tipped to break FC Twente’s transfer record, but his chances of doing so in the upcoming summer transfer window in 2025 might be in jeopardy. Recently, FC Twente sold Anass Salah-Eddine to AS Roma, with the Italian club offering a deal worth 8.5 million Euros (approximately 144 billion IDR). This transfer made Salah-Eddine the most expensive defender ever sold by the club. However, this record could still be surpassed.

Hilgers, who has been in excellent form, is said to have a high market value. The Indonesian national team defender is estimated to be worth around 9 million Euros (roughly 152 billion IDR). According to Twente Insite, there is a possibility that Hilgers could challenge this transfer record. However, the report highlights that Hilgers' situation is different from Salah-Eddine's.

His contract runs until June 2026, leaving only one year left, which could potentially lower his market value if a contract extension is not agreed upon soon. If he does not find a new club by the end of his contract, he could leave on a free transfer next year.

Despite these concerns, Twente Insite remains confident that Hilgers will remain a sought-after target for clubs due to his impressive performances. It is expected that offers will come in the next summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who has been with FC Twente’s youth academy since 2011, is currently having a strong season and has impressed with his performances in several European matches.
