Why Arema FC vs PSM Makassar Ended in a 1-1 Draw in Liga 1

The reason behind the 1-1 draw between Arema FC and PSM Makassar in week 22 of Liga 1 2024-25 has been revealed. According to head coach Jose Gomes, the issue was Arema's lack of finishing in front of goal.

The match, held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 15:30 WIB, saw Nermin Haljeta give PSM Makassar the lead in the 64th minute, before Arema’s Pablo Oliveira equalized just two minutes later.

Gomes expressed his disappointment after the match, noting that Arema had created several clear chances and should have scored more than one goal. He believed the team could have won, especially given their strong performance in the second half, where they generated numerous opportunities.

Although he had deployed two strikers, Charles Lokolingoy and Dalberto Luan, Gomes felt his players still needed to work on their finishing skills. He was especially frustrated by the three golden chances that failed to convert into goals.

Meanwhile, Arema's player Bayu Setiawan acknowledged the team's efforts in creating opportunities but admitted they were unlucky in converting them. He emphasized the need to focus on improving for future matches.
