Indra Sjafri Reveals Final Squad for Indonesia's U-20 Team at the 2025 AFC U-20 Asian Cup

Indra Sjafri, head coach of Indonesia's U-20 national team, has officially announced his final squad for the 2025 AFC U-20 Asian Cup. The announcement comes with a few surprises, as the experienced coach made some notable decisions for the tournament.

A few key players from the 2024 ASEAN Cup U-19-winning squad have been left out. One of the biggest changes was the exclusion of Meshaal Hamzah, a central defender, who was replaced by Fava Sheva from PSPS Pekanbaru. Sheva, currently on loan to a club in Thailand, had been an integral part of the team during the ASEAN Cup victory.

In the midfield, both Figo Dennis and Kafiatur Rizky were also omitted. Kafiatur, who had been dealing with an injury, was confirmed to be unavailable for the Asian Cup after his ongoing recovery. Meanwhile, a fresh addition to the squad in midfield is Evandra Florasta from Bhayangkara FC. Florasta, who had impressed at the Mandiri U-20 Challenge Series earlier in 2025, earned his place in the final squad after a stellar performance.

Up front, Arkhan Kaka, another key player from the ASEAN Cup-winning squad, has been left off the final list. Kaka had not been included in the team since the U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers, marking the end of his run with the U-20 team for now.

Jens Raven remains the only naturalized player in the final squad, with both Dion Markx and Tim Geypens missing out. The exclusion of Markx and Geypens comes as the registration deadline for the tournament had passed before their naturalization oaths were completed on February 8, 2025.
