Yuran Fernandes' Absence Revealed After Missing Four Matches for PSM Makassar

Rumors about Yuran Fernandes potentially leaving PSM Makassar have circulated recently, as the player has not appeared in the squad for several matches. This led to speculation that Fernandes had gone on strike or returned to his home country.
The central defender was last seen playing for PSM Makassar during their ASEAN Club Championship (ACC) match against Svay Rieng on January 8, 2025. Since then, he has been missing from the lineup for four consecutive matches across both Liga 1 and the ACC.
In response to the growing rumors, PSM Makassar's management clarified the situation. Media Officer Sulaiman Abdul Karim confirmed that Fernandes was still part of the team but had been dealing with an injury. He is currently recovering in Portugal.
The 30-year-old player’s absence has been notably felt in the defense, where he has long served as a key sweeper. Without him, PSM Makassar’s defensive stability has been compromised, and they have failed to secure a clean sheet during his time away. Furthermore, the team has struggled without Fernandes, recording three losses and one draw in their last four matches.
PSM Makassar head coach Bernardo Tavares had previously mentioned that several of his players, including Fernandes, were sidelined due to injuries. This has led to a noticeable gap in the team’s usual defensive strength.
