PSM Makassar's Appeal Upheld, Wins Against Barito Putera Remain Valid

PSM Makassar received positive news after the Indonesian Football Association's (PSSI) Appeal Committee overturned the disciplinary sanctions imposed on them. The club, also known as Juku Eja, will retain their victory against Barito Putera, despite playing with only 12 players in the match.

PSM Makassar's Appeal Upheld, Wins Against Barito Putera Remain Valid

This decision was officially announced by PSM on their social media channels on January 8, 2025. The club confirmed that their appeal had been accepted by PSSI's Appeal Committee.

Previously, PSM had been penalized with a 0-3 loss to Barito Putera for fielding an extra player during the match, which took place on December 22, 2024, in the 16th round of Liga 1 2024-25 at Batakan Stadium in Balikpapan.

In that match, PSM won 3-2 against Barito Putera, but they were accused of having 12 players on the field during the final moments of the game. This led to PSSI’s Disciplinary Committee issuing a penalty.

However, PSM filed an appeal, explaining the situation that occurred on the pitch. According to PSM, the issue was caused by an error from the match officials, who allowed a substitution while the player being replaced had not yet left the field. The officials later admitted their mistake.

As a result, PSSI’s original sanction, which was imposed on December 29, 2024, was officially rescinded by the Appeal Committee's decision issued on January 8, 2025. PSM expressed their satisfaction with the fairness of the ruling and thanked their supporters for their continued support and prayers.

With the three points from the Barito Putera match now restored, PSM moves up to 8th place in the Liga 1 standings, increasing their total points to 27, after previously sitting in 11th place with 24 points.
