Matheus Pato Returns to Borneo FC for the 2024-25 Season
Matheus Pato has officially rejoined Borneo FC during the mid-season transfer window of Liga 1. The Brazilian striker, who had previously been rumored to be moving to Persib Bandung, decided to return to Borneo FC, where he had previously enjoyed success.

In addition to Pato's return, Borneo FC has also secured the signing of Ricky Cawor, a forward who has previously played for PSS Sleman and Persija Jakarta. These signings are expected to strengthen Borneo FC's attacking line as they aim to improve their performance in the second half of the season.
Borneo FC's official announcement expressed excitement over Pato's return, stating that the striker will play a key role in leading the team’s attack and helping them achieve their goal of becoming champions in the current Liga 1 season. The management is hopeful that Pato will quickly make an impact given his familiarity with the team and the city of Samarinda, where he has already built strong connections with many of the players. This familiarity is seen as a crucial advantage, particularly during the mid-season transfer period.
Matheus Pato has a notable history with Borneo FC, having been the top scorer of Liga 1 in the 2022-23 season, as well as the top scorer in the Piala Presiden during the same period. His return is seen as a boost for the team's attacking options.
Alongside Pato, Ricky Cawor is also expected to provide additional strength to Borneo FC’s frontline. Cawor, at 26 years old, has had experience with several top Indonesian clubs, including Persipura, Persija Jakarta, and PSS Sleman, contributing 15 goals in 71 appearances across various competitions. Borneo FC is hopeful that Cawor’s skill set—his vision, pace, agility, and determination—will enhance their offensive capabilities.
Cawor has signed a 1.5-year contract and will wear the number 41 shirt for the remainder of the season. Both signings are part of Borneo FC's efforts to push for a stronger position in the Liga 1 title race as the season progresses.
