Manchester United Eyes Bold Move for Eduardo Camavinga as Midfield Reinforcement

Manchester United is reportedly targeting Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as their final major signing of the summer transfer window. The Premier League side sees the Frenchman as a perfect fit for manager Ruben Amorim’s system, specifically to partner with Casemiro in a double-pivot role. Amorim values Camavinga’s ability to control tempo and provide balance, allowing more freedom for attacking midfielders like Bruno Fernandes.
Before turning their focus to Camavinga, United had explored other options such as Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton, but both pursuits stalled due to high price tags and resistance from the selling clubs. Now, with time running out in the transfer window, the Red Devils are preparing a possible offer close to €80 million to test Madrid’s stance.
At Real Madrid, Camavinga is currently recovering from an ankle injury that sidelined him for the league opener. Despite being under contract until 2029 and considered part of Xabi Alonso’s long-term plans, his inconsistent performances and recurring injuries have raised questions about his future. Nevertheless, his ball progression skills and physical attributes are still highly valued by the coaching staff.
Madrid’s position remains firm: Camavinga will not be sold unless a bid meets the €80 million threshold. While this valuation has discouraged many suitors, Manchester United appears willing to consider a formal offer in that range. Whether they follow through with an official bid will depend on ongoing internal evaluations and developments in the final weeks of the transfer window.
