Alvaro Morata’s Move to Como Stalls Amid Galatasaray’s Compensation Demand

Como remains hopeful of finalizing a summer transfer for Alvaro Morata, despite a roadblock involving Galatasaray’s demand for a €3 million compensation fee. The Italian club is unwilling to meet this request, holding firm in its stance while waiting for a resolution within the week. Morata is currently on loan at Galatasaray, and the Turkish side is seeking financial recognition for releasing the striker early.
Como’s confidence is partly driven by its collaboration with AC Milan, whose CEO, Giorgio Furlani, is assisting in the negotiations. Milan has already agreed to cover the €10 million transfer fee to release Morata from his obligations. With Milan’s support and assurances in place, Como believes the deal can be completed smoothly, pending Galatasaray’s final approval.
Last week, Como’s president confirmed that a verbal agreement had been reached and that all required actions from the club’s side had been completed. The final step now depends entirely on Galatasaray’s willingness to approve the early termination of Morata’s loan. The Turkish club, however, is holding out for compensation, citing Morata’s notable contributions in the previous season.
Should the transfer go through, Morata would become a marquee signing for Como as they prepare for a competitive season under coach Cesc Fabregas. His arrival would signal the club’s serious ambitions in Serie A—not just to survive, but to make a strong impression in their top-flight campaign.
