Arsenal to Keep Trossard and Zinchenko Amid Transfer Shift and Injury Concerns

Arsenal has made a strategic shift in their transfer plans by deciding to retain both Leandro Trossard and Oleksandr Zinchenko for the 2025-26 season. While both players were previously expected to leave during the summer window, discussions with manager Mikel Arteta appear to have changed the club’s direction. The decision reflects a renewed commitment to maintaining squad depth and experience, especially after last season’s injury setbacks.
Trossard was initially seen as a potential casualty following the arrival of Noni Madueke and the club’s ongoing pursuit of Eberechi Eze. However, recent developments suggest he remains a key part of Arteta’s setup. Talks are reportedly underway for a contract extension, signaling Arsenal’s renewed confidence in the Belgian forward despite previous disagreements over salary demands and light interest from Bayern Munich.
Zinchenko’s future was also uncertain after starting just five Premier League matches last season. The presence of younger options like Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori had pushed him down the pecking order, and with only a year left on his contract, he was a candidate for sale. However, after a series of personal conversations with Arteta, Zinchenko has agreed to stay for at least one more season, even though no contract renewal is currently planned.
Arsenal’s choice to keep both players seems driven by a desire for stability amid an active transfer window. While the club still aims to bolster their attack with signings like Eze, Arteta appears cautious about letting experienced squad members go too soon. Trossard is expected to play a regular role, while Zinchenko may remain on the fringes unless circumstances change. If no extension is agreed, Arsenal could lose the Ukrainian on a free next summer, missing out on a potential £15–20 million transfer fee.
