Roberto Firmino Joins Al Sadd After Departing Al Ahli

Roberto Firmino has officially signed with Qatari powerhouse Al Sadd following his departure from Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli. After a successful stint in Saudi Arabia, the Brazilian forward has opted to stay in the Middle East, transitioning to a new chapter in his career with one of Qatar’s most decorated clubs. The move marks a significant transfer in the region as Al Sadd continues to strengthen its roster with experienced international talent.
During his time at Al Ahli, Firmino served as captain and led the club to an historic Asian Champions League title, the first in their history. His leadership and consistent performances played a crucial role in that triumph. Over the course of 65 appearances, he recorded an impressive 21 goals and 17 assists, making a substantial impact since his move from Liverpool in 2023.
Although his original contract with Al Ahli was set to run until 2026, Firmino chose to end his stay a year early. His decision to remain in the region highlights both his comfort in Middle Eastern football and the growing competitiveness of leagues outside Europe. His arrival at Al Sadd adds further star power to a team already renowned for its domestic success and international ambition.
Firmino has signed a two-year deal with Al Sadd, where he will reunite with coach Felix Sanchez, formerly in charge of Qatar and Ecuador’s national teams. Al Sadd, boasting 18 domestic league titles including last season’s championship, is seen as a dominant force in Qatari football. With Firmino’s arrival, the club aims to maintain its winning form and possibly push for greater success in continental competitions.
