Real Madrid May Release €30M Signing Reinier Jesus on a Free Transfer

Real Madrid are reportedly considering releasing Reinier Jesus, a player they signed for €30 million from Flamengo in 2020, without demanding a transfer fee. Once hailed as a rising star in Brazilian football, Reinier has struggled to break into Madrid’s first team over the past five years. Despite the hefty investment, he has yet to make a single senior appearance for the club.
During his time with Madrid, Reinier has spent multiple loan spells at clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Girona, Frosinone, and Granada. However, none of those stints resulted in standout performances that convinced Madrid to integrate him into their main squad. With his contract set to expire in 2026, his future at the club remains uncertain.
The lack of interest from other clubs has left Madrid in a difficult position. Without concrete offers, the club is now weighing the option of terminating his contract early to offload his salary burden. This move would free up financial space and simplify squad planning under new head coach Xabi Alonso.
Alonso has already brought in players who fit his tactical vision, leaving Reinier further out of the picture. Given the direction of the current rebuild and Reinier’s lack of impact, Madrid appears ready to cut their losses, marking a disappointing end to what was once seen as a high-potential signing.
