Borneo FC Strengthens Defense with Ninth Foreign Signing: Brazilian Left-Back Westherley Garcia Joins
Borneo FC has officially welcomed Westherley Garcia as their ninth foreign player for the 2025-26 Super League season. The 28-year-old Brazilian left-back was introduced through the club’s social media, highlighting the boost he brings to their defense. Garcia’s arrival adds depth and versatility to Borneo’s backline, joining eight other foreign players already part of the squad, including several retained from last season.

Westherley Garcia comes from Anápolis FC, a Brazilian Serie C team, where he played 24 matches and scored once last season. Known for his strong defensive skills and sharp attacking instincts, he fits the mold of a modern fullback with the ability to support offensive transitions. Standing at 1.80 meters, he is left-footed and brings both physicality and speed to the team.
Garcia’s career also includes valuable international experience, having played for Naxxar Lions in Malta, where he crossed paths with another Indonesian league player, Marselino William, though they never played together. His overseas journey began with FC West Armenia in the Armenian top division, followed by a return to Brazil before moving back to Europe and eventually returning to Brazil again.

Borneo FC expectsGarcia’s flexible and aggressive playing style to enrich their tactics on the flank. His experience in various leagues and adaptability are seen as important assets to enhance both the team’s defense and attack, providing fresh options and strengthening the squad as they prepare for the new season.
