Semen Padang Faces FIFA Ban but Commits to Clearing Debts Ahead of Super League Season

Semen Padang FC is working quickly to resolve outstanding compensation payments to four former foreign players to lift a FIFA ban that prevents them from registering new players for the 2025-26 Liga 1 season. The club’s CEO confirmed plans to settle these debts within July to comply with regulations and avoid further sanctions.
The players seeking compensation include Kenneth Ikechukwu Ngwoke, Bruno Dybal, Jan Carlos Vargas, and Ryohei Michibuchi, whose contracts were terminated by the club. Until these payments are made, FIFA has blocked Semen Padang from registering new signings, posing a challenge as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Alongside handling the financial obligations, Semen Padang’s management is also finalizing necessary documentation such as immigration and labor approvals to ensure smooth player registration once the ban is lifted. The club is among five Indonesian teams currently facing similar FIFA restrictions.
In preparation for the new season, Semen Padang will hold a training camp in Malaysia starting mid-July, including two friendly matches against Negeri Sembilan FC and Kuala Lumpur FC. The team aims to be fully ready once administrative issues are resolved and the FIFA ban is removed.
