Rafael Struick Joins Dewa United, Boosting Squad’s Dutch Connection

Rafael Struick, a young Indonesian national team forward, has chosen to join Dewa United for the 2025-26 Liga 1 season. Previously playing for Brisbane Roar in Australia, his signing was confirmed by Dewa United’s coach Jan Olde Riekerink and first reported by a popular football account. Despite interest from Persija Jakarta and Bhayangkara FC, Dewa United secured Struick with a more attractive contract offer.
Struick’s arrival strengthens Dewa United’s growing Dutch influence, already present with the loan of Stefano Lilipaly from Borneo FC. The club’s fans reacted enthusiastically, especially after hints of Struick’s signing appeared in Lilipaly’s introduction video, which included a Dutch conversation referencing Struick’s presence at the club.
Born in the Netherlands in 2003, Struick is a tall, versatile winger who has represented Indonesia at all youth levels and earned 23 senior caps. His career began in Dutch clubs Forum Sport and ADO Den Haag before moving to Australia, and now he returns to Indonesia during a key phase of his development.
Dewa United’s recruitment of high-profile players like Struick, Lilipaly, and former Bali United winger Privat Mbarga creates a competitive environment, especially in the winger positions. Struick will need to prove himself to earn a regular starting spot despite his national team status.
