Malut United and Persebaya to Represent Indonesia in 2025-26 ACC Shopee Cup
Malut United and Persebaya Surabaya have been selected to represent Indonesia in the 2025-26 ASEAN Club Championship (ACC) Shopee Cup. The prestigious regional tournament features 14 teams, with 12 securing direct qualification to the group stage and two more spots to be filled through a playoff round. The inclusion of these two Indonesian clubs marks a significant opportunity to showcase their strength on a Southeast Asian stage.
Thailand dominates this season’s entry list by sending three teams: Buriram United as both defending champion and league winner, alongside Bangkok United and BG Pathum United. Malaysia is represented by Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Selangor FC. Other notable teams include Hanoi FC and Cong An Hanoi from Vietnam, and two clubs from Singapore, Lion City Sailors and Tampines Rovers. Cambodia's representative will be confirmed soon.
The group stage will be played in a single round-robin format, where each team will play six matches — three at home and three away. The top four teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The group stage is scheduled to run from August 2025 through February 2026, following the playoff round on August 8, 2025, which will determine the final two teams entering the competition.
The playoff contenders include DH Cebu, Shan United, Kasuka FC, and a representative from Laos still to be confirmed. The draw for the tournament is set for July 4, 2025, in Bangkok, and anticipation is building as fans await to see how Malut United and Persebaya will fare against Southeast Asia’s top clubs in this expanded regional competition.
