PSIM Yogyakarta Strengthens Squad with Five Local Signings Ahead of Liga 1 2025-26

PSIM Yogyakarta has officially added five new local players to their squad in preparation for the upcoming Liga 1 2025-26 season. The new recruits, introduced together in late June 2025, include winger Andi Irfan, midfielder RiyatnoAbiyoso, defender Andy Setyo, attacking midfielder Muhammad Iqbal, and right winger KasimBotan. The club’s management emphasizes that these signings fit the team’s needs, combining youth with valuable experience in Indonesia’s top-flight football.
The club’s manager highlighted the strengths of the new midfield and defensive players, pointing out the pace and goal-scoring abilities of the wide players as well as the solid defensive experience brought by the center back. The arrival of these players is seen as a strategic move to bring stability and quality to the team as they prepare to compete at the highest level.
Prior to these signings, PSIM had already secured two foreign players—a Slovenian striker and a Portuguese midfielder—to bolster the squad. Meanwhile, several key players from the previous season remain with the club, ensuring a blend of continuity and fresh talent. This balanced approach is expected to help PSIM perform strongly in their return to Liga 1.
PSIM Yogyakarta is scheduled to start their preseason training in early July, signaling their readiness for the new challenge.
