Cristiano Ronaldo’s Salary at Al Nassr Surpasses Total Payroll of Six Major European Clubs

Cristiano Ronaldo recently extended his contract with Al Nassr for another two years, securing an astonishing annual salary of around 180 million euros. This massive figure makes him not only the highest-paid footballer in the world but also means his individual wage exceeds the total player payrolls of several major European clubs. Despite rumors of his departure following cryptic social media posts after the 2024-25 season, Ronaldo chose to remain with the Saudi club until mid-2027.
Among the European giants, only eight clubs spend more on player salaries annually than Ronaldo’s single paycheck. These include top-tier teams like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain. Meanwhile, several big-name clubs spend less on their entire squads than what Ronaldo earns alone. Liverpool, the 2024-25 Premier League champions, for example, allocate about 152 million euros annually for player wages, which is still below Ronaldo’s salary.
Other prominent clubs with smaller payrolls than Ronaldo’s salary include Inter Milan, which spends approximately 144 million euros a year on players, and Newcastle United, whose wages total around 122 million euros despite heavy investment and restrictions under Premier League financial rules. Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur also have annual wage bills under Ronaldo’s salary, with Atletico at about 137 million euros and Spurs near 123 million euros.
Even the Serie A champions Napoli maintain a relatively modest wage budget of roughly 87 million euros, a sum significantly lower than Ronaldo’s yearly income at Al Nassr. The Italian club, despite acquiring Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer, might need to increase its payroll to remain competitive in European tournaments. Ronaldo’s staggering earnings highlight the vast financial gulf between some clubs and the individual megastar contracts in global football today.
