Persijap Jepara Strengthens Defense with New Brazilian Signing Douglas Cruz
Persijap Jepara, a newcomer to Liga 1 for the 2025-26 season, has officially announced its first foreign recruit, Brazilian defender Douglas Nonato Oliveira Cruz. The 26-year-old joins the team to bolster their defensive line after an impressive season with PSPS Pekanbaru in Liga 2, where he made 19 appearances and played a key role in their near-promotion campaign.
Interestingly, Douglas Cruz’s former team PSPS Pekanbaru was defeated by Persijap Jepara in the Liga 2 third-place playoff, which seemingly influenced his decision to join the Jepara-based club. This transfer adds strength to Persijap’s backline as they prepare for their debut season in Indonesia’s top flight.
In addition to Douglas Cruz, Persijap has secured five new signings for the upcoming season, including Wahyudi Hamisi, Dicky Kurniawan, Firman Ramadhan, and Frank Rickhart Sokoy. These new additions complement the squad of 10 players retained from last season, ensuring a mix of experience and fresh talent.
