Nathan Tjoe-A-On Parts Ways with Swansea City Amid Contract Termination

Nathan Tjoe-A-On Parts Ways with Swansea City Amid Contract Termination

Nathan Tjoe-A-On, the Indonesian national team defender, is no longer a player for Swansea City after both parties mutually agreed to end his contract. Although his deal was originally set to run until mid-2026, the club and the player decided to terminate the agreement earlier. This announcement was officially made by Swansea, signaling the end of his short stint with the Welsh club.
Since joining Swansea City from Dutch club Excelsior in the summer of 2023, Nathan struggled to secure regular playing time. Over the past season, he featured only once in league matches and twice in cup competitions, limiting his chances to make a significant impact. During this period, he was also loaned out to Heerenveen, another Dutch club, in an attempt to gain more experience and playing opportunities.
Throughout his professional career, Nathan has represented three clubs: Excelsior, Swansea City, and Heerenveen. Despite being just 23 years old, he has already earned 11 caps for Indonesia's senior national team and has also played seven times at the under-23 level. His departure from Swansea adds him to a growing list of naturalized Indonesian internationals who recently found themselves without club contracts.
The identity of Nathan’s next club remains unknown as he currently searches for a new team to continue his career. His exit from Swansea follows a trend where other naturalized players like Justin Hubner, Thom Haye, Rafael Struick, Shayne Pattynama, and Jordi Amat have also become free agents during this mid-year transfer window.
