Major Club Rebranding in Indonesian Football: Persikas Becomes Sumsel United, PISA Turns into Cirebon United

The transformation of Persikas into Sumsel United is more than just a name change—it represents a strategic effort to develop a stronger football presence in South Sumatra. Another significant change saw PISA rebranded as Cirebon United, with a renewed focus on embedding the club more deeply in the northern coastal city of West Java. Overall, a total of 24 clubs underwent name changes, while one changed its provincial base, reflecting a broader reorganization within Indonesian football.
