Inter Milan Eye Nicolo Rovella in Swap Deal to Bolster Midfield

Inter Milan are intensifying their pursuit of Lazio midfielder Nicolo Rovella as they aim to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season. Despite having their initial offer rejected, which included Kristjan Asllani and a cash sum, Inter remain determined to land the 23-year-old and are preparing a revised bid to meet Lazio’s expectations.
Rovella, currently on loan from Juventus, is set to join Lazio permanently for €17 million this summer. Over two seasons, he has delivered six assists in 74 appearances and is regarded as a key figure in Lazio's midfield. Once his transfer becomes official in July, a €50 million release clause in his contract will come into effect, which complicates Inter’s efforts to sign him.
Inter are considering parting ways with either Asllani or Davide Frattesi to make room for Rovella, who offers a combination of the two players’ qualities. The club views him as a strategic addition to improve midfield depth and balance, but negotiations with Lazio will require an improved offer to move forward.
The move is part of a broader transfer strategy promised to manager Simone Inzaghi, as Inter aims to retain its core squad while adding quality reinforcements. Other midfield targets under consideration include Samuele Ricci and Morten Frendrup. Inter are also exploring limited sales, potentially offloading an Italian midfielder or Yann Aurel Bisseck to fund new arrivals without disrupting squad stability.
