Mohamed Salah Wins FWA Footballer of the Year Award
Mohamed Salah has been named the FWA Footballer of the Year for the 2024-25 season, marking a remarkable achievement in his career. This prestigious award, determined by a vote among English football journalists, recognizes Salah's extraordinary performance throughout the season. Not only is he the Premier League's top scorer with 28 goals, but he also leads in assists with 18, significantly contributing to Liverpool’s Premier League title win.
This is Salah's third time winning the FWA Footballer of the Year, making him the first player to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s two wins. Salah’s previous awards came in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 seasons, where he also had standout performances, although Liverpool did not win the league on those occasions. His latest victory places him alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who won the award three times.
Salah’s victory in the 2024-25 FWA Footballer of the Year race was clear, with the Egyptian forward securing an impressive 90% of the votes. He beat out notable contenders, including his teammate Virgil van Dijk, who finished second, and other top players like Ryan Gravenberch, Declan Rice, and Alexander Isak. This marks yet another significant milestone in Salah’s already illustrious career.
