Persija Falls Out of Top Four After Defeat to Semen Padang
Persija Jakarta dropped out of the top four in Liga 1 after a disappointing loss to Semen Padang in week 30 at Pakansari Stadium. Despite dominating possession, Persija struggled with creativity in attack, and their efforts were thwarted by an outstanding performance from Semen Padang's goalkeeper, Arthur Augusto. Semen Padang, on the other hand, capitalized on their chances, scoring twice in the first half through Firman Juliansyah and Bruno Gomes.
In the second half, Persija made tactical changes, bringing on Hanif Sjahbandi and Ryo Matsumura to strengthen their attack. Although they created several opportunities, including a powerful shot from Firza Andika and a free kick by Gustavo, they were unable to break down Semen Padang’s defense. Despite Persija’s increased pressure, Semen Padang almost scored again, with Bruno's header narrowly missing the target. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Semen Padang, marking Persija's ninth winless game in their last 11 matches.
This defeat pushed Persija down to fifth place with 47 points, while Semen Padang secured their second consecutive victory, moving to 16th place with 28 points, just one point above the relegation zone. In their next match, Persija will face Borneo FC away, while Semen Padang will take on Madura United at home.
