Massive Crowd Turns Out as Persija Sets New Attendance Record in Liga 1

A record-breaking crowd of 39,395 fans packed into the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on Saturday night, April 12, 2025. The massive turnout was for the highly anticipated clash between Persija Jakarta and Persebaya Surabaya, which set a new attendance milestone for the 2024-25 BRI Liga 1 season.
This achievement surpassed Persija’s previous attendance record, which stood at 28,027 spectators during their match against Persita at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) earlier in the season.
Although the game against Persebaya ended in a 1-1 draw, Persija's head coach Carlos Pena expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the club’s loyal fans, known as Jakmania, who created an electrifying atmosphere throughout the night.
Persija has continued to dominate the top attendance charts this season. The Jakarta-based club also drew 27,760 spectators in a home fixture against Persib at Stadion Patriot, placing it third on the list. Another notable turnout was recorded during their game against PSS Sleman at JIS, where 27,522 fans were present, ranking fourth.
Even on the road, Persija managed to attract large crowds. When they visited Persebaya’s home ground, StadionGelora Bung Tomo (GBT), in the first round, the match drew 27,190 fans, making it the fifth highest-attended game of the season.
