Peter Lim Quashes Rumors of Cristiano Ronaldo Buying Valencia

Peter Lim, the owner of Valencia, has put an end to the speculation suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo could be the next buyer of the La Liga club. Lim, who has owned the majority share of Valencia since 2014, also acquired a 50% stake in English lower-league club Salford City in the same year. He later transferred his share to co-owner Gary Neville, a former Manchester United teammate of Ronaldo, last year.
Rumors had been circulating recently that Ronaldo, who is connected to Lim through a 2015 deal where Lim’s company purchased some of Ronaldo’s image rights, might be interested in buying Valencia. Spanish radio station Cope Cadena even reported that Lim had told PSG’s owner, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, that he was willing to sell the club for €400 million ($438 million).
Adding fuel to the fire, journalist Julian Redondo speculated that Ronaldo would become the club's next owner if Valencia managed to stay in La Liga. However, Lim has firmly denied these claims, stating that he has no intention of selling the club. In fact, he recently appointed his son, Kiat Lim, as the club's president, further confirming his long-term commitment to the team. The outgoing president, Chan Lay Hoon, praised this decision as a strong affirmation of the owner's dedication to Valencia’s future.
Although Ronaldo has not directly addressed the rumors, he has previously expressed an interest in owning a club in an interview with Portuguese media, hinting at such ambitions as he nears the end of his playing career.
